PLEASE NOTE: Because January 1st is the first day you can file the FAFSA online, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL YOU FILE YOUR 2016 TAX RETURN. If your income information has not changed significantly from last year, use your 2014 tax return to file. When your 2015 tax return information is received by the IRS, you will be able to use the online IRS Data Retrieval Tool to automatically populate your FAFSA with that information.
Senior Scholarship Information- Seniors applying for scholarships and financial aid should plan to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) in January. If you choose to file the application on-line both the student and a parent will need to have a PIN number for their electronic signatures. You may apply for this at any time at www.pin.ed.gov and you will receive it through the mail within a couple of weeks. Having your PIN number in advance will simplify the application process in January. You will need estimated or final tax information to complete the form. You DO NOT need to complete your taxes before you fill out the FAFSA. NOTE: each college/university has it's own FAFSA deadline for students who want to be considered for scholarships awarded by that given institution. UA FAFSA Priority Deadline: March 1st (Federal School Code 001083) ASU FAFSA Priority Deadline: March 1st (Federal School Code 001081) NAU FAFSA Priority Deadline: February 1st (Federal School Code 001082) File the FAFSA, Step-by-Step Step 1: Get your FSA ID www.fsaid.ed.gov Step 2: Create a new FAFSA www.fafsa.ed.gov Step 3: List Schools (If you don't, they can't offer you financial aid!) https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/schoolSearch?locale=en_EN https://ifap.ed.gov/fedschcodelist/attachments/1516FedSchoolCodeList.pdf
